Golden text: John 9:4-5*

We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

John 6:26-36

26 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30 So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe.

From 21st Century Science and Health**

Jesus taught that the mortal senses shut out Truth and its healing power. By employing our spiritual senses, we change for the better and feel regenerated.

A clergyman once adopted a diet of bread and water to increase his spirituality. Finding his health failing, he gave up his asceticism and advised others never to try dietetics for growth in grace.

The fact is, food does not affect our absolute Life, and this becomes self-evident when we learn that God is our Life. Because sin and sickness are not qualities of Soul, or Life, we have hope in spirituality. Nevertheless, it would be foolish to stop eating a healthy balanced diet, or to stop exercising, until we gain perfection and a clear comprehension of the living Spirit. In that perfect day of understanding, we shall neither eat to live nor live to eat.

Human beings must have trials and self-denials, as well as joys and victories, until all error is destroyed.

I Corinthians 9:1-12

Am I [Paul] not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are not you my workmanship in the Lord? If to others I am not an apostle, at least I am to you, for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord. This is my defense to those who would examine me. Do we not have the right to eat and drink? Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas? Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to refrain from working for a living? Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard without eating any of its fruit? Or who tends a flock without getting some of the milk?

Do I say these things on human authority? Does not the Law say the same? For it is written in the Law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned? 10 Does he not certainly speak for our sake? It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop. 11 If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material things from you? 12 If others share this rightful claim on you, do not we even more? Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ.

From 21st Century Science and Health

The medicine of Science is divine Mind, not human mind. The human attitudes of dishonesty, sensuality, greed, revenge, and malice, cannot heal the sick. Thoughts that try to control another person are crude tendencies and by no means the mental qualities which heal. The hypnotizer employs one error to destroy another. The mental mal-practitioner heals sickness through a belief, when it was a belief which originally caused the sickness. This is a case of a greater error overcoming a lesser. The greater error thereafter occupies the ground, leaving the case worse than before.

While dwelling on a physical plane, human terms must generally be employed to speak of the things of Spirit. It takes time for human thought to adjust to the higher meaning. Thought must be educated to perceive spirituality. To a certain extent, improved thought is necessary in all learning, even in that which is secular.

The terms divine Science, spiritual Science, metaphysical Science, the Science of Truth and Love, Christian Science, or Science alone, are employed interchangeably according to the requirements of the context. These synonymous terms stand for everything relating to God, the infinite, supreme, eternal Mind. It may be said, however, that the term Christian Science relates especially to Science as applied to humanity. Divine Science reveals God, not as the author of sin, sickness, and death, but as absolute Principle, Supreme Being, Mind, exempt from all evil. It teaches that materialism or limitation is the falsity, not the fact, of existence. Nerves, brain, stomach, lungs, and so forth, have—as matter—no intelligence, life, or sensation.

I Corinthians 9: 13-27

Do you not know that those who are employed in the temple service get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the sacrificial offerings? 14 In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel.

15 But I have made no use of any of these rights, nor am I writing these things to secure any such provision. For I would rather die than have anyone deprive me of my ground for boasting. 16 For if I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! 17 For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward, but if not of my own will, I am still entrusted with a stewardship. 18 What then is my reward? That in my preaching I may present the gospel free of charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel.

19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

From 21st Century Science and Health

Your thinking can work against your health, so it is better to employ your thinking on the side of health. You make yourself sick through the false belief of sickness even before you rush after drugs, get blood tests, and avoid society for fear of germs.

Because human-made systems insist that we can become sick and useless, suffer and die, all in agreement with the laws of God, or nature, are we to believe it? Are we to believe an authority which denies God’s spiritual command relating to perfection—an authority which Jesus proved to be false? Jesus did the will of the Father. He healed sickness in defiance of what is called physical law, but in accordance with Mind’s law.

Hebrews 6:7-12

For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.

Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things—things that belong to salvation. 10 For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do. 11 And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

From 21st Century Science and Health

Physicians, whom the sick employ in their helplessness, should be models of integrity. They should be wise spiritual guides to health and hope. To the frightened patient on the brink of death, physicians can be prepared to share an understanding of the Truth that is Life. When the soul is willing and the flesh is weak, the patient may be willing to learn of the ever-perpetuating Life, and plant their feet on the rock of Christ, the true idea of spiritual power.

Let us be faithful in pointing the way through Christ, as we understand it, but let us also be careful always to “stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment.”[1] Never condemn rashly.

In the presence of a sick person, employ tender words and spiritual encouragement. Patiently remove all fears, without gushing theories, stereotyped clichés, and rigid arguments which are so many misrepresentations of divine Science, aflame with divine Love.

God did not need Jesus’ example to preserve the eternal harmony, however human beings did, and Jesus pointed the way.

[Jesus] explored the way and we all have the same cup of poignant effort to drink.

The Christ is bodiless, spiritual—the holy image and likeness, dispelling the illusions of the senses; the Way, the Truth, and the Life, healing the sick and driving out evils, destroying sin, disease, and death.

Light extinguishes the darkness— there is “no night there.”[2] To Truth there is no error, all is Truth.

bible study imageSubject: Making amends

Most of us make mistakes. We hurt ourselves and others when we make bad decisions. However, we can recognize and learn from those mistakes. We can get on the right track to helping ourselves and others.

Relationships require mindfulness in order to not make the same mistakes. We can find information that tells us how to nurture, rather than destroy relationships. The Center for Change & Well-being posted an article on November 2016, titled, 4 mistakes couples make that destroy their relationship and offers advice. One scenario presented reminds us to avoid “stonewalling” or giving the “silent treatment.”

It’s a mistake to shut down and become unresponsive to our partner. The non-verbal distance creates an emotional distance that widens until too late to come back together. The article explains, “To prevent your relationship from falling apart you need to understand that conflict is part of a healthy relationship; it’s how you and your partner communicate your needs and differences to each other.

“Be aware of your behaviors and understand what you are really upset about, and target that, rather than using passive-aggressive behaviors to communicate how you feel with your partner.

“Try focusing more on what you want and less about what your partner is doing wrong.  It’s how you react to the conflict that predicts the future of your relationship.”

As for mistakes on the job, in 2013, NPR’s TED Radio Hour, interviewed healthcare physicians about Making Mistakes.  They discussed the need to “redefine the medical environment” and create a culture that offers in a loving supportive way to exercise pointing out and correcting mistakes. Moreover, the idea of “rewarding for coming clean,” was considered.

This same principle can be applied to our spiritual work. We need to admit mistakes made on our spiritual journey and it can be done with compassion and the integrity to move forward with humility.

Granted, it’s easy to make mistakes and difficult to fix them, but when mistakes are corrected, we learn. We make progress. And the progress includes others.

In your Bible, please read I Samuel, chapter 1. This story tells about a barren woman named Hannah. She went to the temple and prayed with such a fervor that the priest, Eli, made the mistake of thinking she was drunk. Eli did approach and reproach Hannah, but she showed him she wasn’t drunk. Eli admitted his mistake. He made amends by blessing and encouraging Hannah. She went home and conceived a child, Samuel, that would later help Eli in the temple and become a prophet to the greater population.

The tactic to make amends is practical today.

In the basic text for Alcoholics Anonymous, The Big Book, details the Twelve Step program. Steps eight and nine shows the need to make a list of all persons harmed and then become not only willing to make amends to them all, but actually follow through on making direct amends wherever possible.

The clincher is, mistakes oftentimes need to be amended for repeatedly.

Please read Luke 11: 24-26

Unclean spirits return to haunt us, but God has given us the ability to come clean, make amends, and continue increasing our spiritual progress.

Humanity’s dependence on the relentless passions, selfishness, envy, hatred, and revenge—is beaten only by a mighty struggle. Every hour of delay makes the struggle more severe.

Calling on Mind to forgive our unfinished or sloppy work is useless. To repeatedly ask for forgiveness, yet repeat lousy behavior, is ridiculous. Human beings may forgive, however, divine Principle reforms.

A human judge sometimes remits the penalty but this may not be a moral benefit to the criminal. At best, it only saves the criminal from one form of punishment. The moral law, which has the right to acquit or condemn, always demands restitution before human beings can “move up to a better place.”[1]

Never condemn rashly. “If anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also,”[2] because if you refrain from retaliation, you will be struck again.

Suffering is just as much a mental condition as enjoyment. You not only cause bodily suffering mentally, but you can also aggravate the suffering by admitting its reality and persistence. In the same way, you enhance your joys by believing them to be real and continuous.

It is a mistake even to complain or to be angry over sin. To be whole, people must be better spiritually as well as physically. To be spiritual, we must forsake the temporal sense of things, turn away from the lies of false beliefs, look to Truth, and gather the facts of being from the divine Mind. The body improves under the same plan which perfects the thought.

Divine Principle causes us to correct our mistakes.

A desire for spirituality is requisite in order to gain it, and if we desire spirituality above all else, we will surrender all mortal thoughts. We must be willing to surrender mortal thoughts in order to walk securely in the only practical road to immortality.

Truth encourages the elements of freedom.

Spirit blesses the multiplication of its own pure and complete ideas.

Spiritual living and blessedness are the only evidences, by which we can recognize true existence and feel the unspeakable peace which comes from an all-engaging spiritual love.

Quoting from science & religion to God, copyrighted

We acknowledge God’s forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin—though sin will be punished until spiritual understanding casts it out as unreal.

What does it mean to be one with the divine? If we look to Christ Jesus, we learn that divine oneness involves rules (e.g. The Golden Rule[3]) and credible inspiration. It’s both an individual and collective mission. Unity with God isn’t popular with the world, but it is fair to our self and merciful to others.

Oneness with the divine isn’t about God coming to earth to be with human beings. Oneness with the divine isn’t about Jesus dying and automatically uniting us to God. Oneness is about discovering God.

We are reconciled to the divine by attaching to the law of Spirit and detaching from the laws of matter, sin, and death. This restructuring redeems and gives us a sense of unity, rather than separation. We don’t invent spirituality, but find our spirituality is inseparable from God.

Every twinge of repentance and suffering, every effort to reform, every good thought and deed will help us to unite with the divine.

We can gain a little each day in the right direction. We can stop thinking bad thoughts about ourselves and other people, we can stop gossiping. We can engage in worthwhile activities. We can act responsibly.

Golden text: Psalm 4:6*

There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!”

Matthew 19:16-30

And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” 17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19 Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

23 And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” 27 Then Peter said in reply, “See, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?” 28 Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

From 21st Century Science and Health**

Human mind must part with error, must put off itself with its deeds, and then spirituality, the Christ ideal, will appear. Faith should enlarge its borders and strengthen its foundation by resting on Spirit instead of matter.

Heaven is not a locality, but a divine state of Mind in which all the manifestations of Mind are harmonious and immortal because sin is not there and God’s person is found having no self-righteousness, but is in possession of “the mind of the Lord,”[1] as the Scripture say.

I Timothy 1:5-11 (The Message)

The whole point of what we’re urging is simply love—love uncontaminated by self-interest and counterfeit faith, a life open to God. Those who fail to keep to this point soon wander off into cul-de-sacs of gossip. They set themselves up as experts on religious issues, but haven’t the remotest idea of what they’re holding forth with such imposing eloquence.

8-11 It’s true that moral guidance and counsel need to be given, but the way you say it and to whom you say it are as important as what you say. It’s obvious, isn’t it, that the law code isn’t primarily for people who live responsibly, but for the irresponsible, who defy all authority, riding roughshod over God, life, sex, truth, whatever! They are contemptuous of this great Message I’ve been put in charge of by this great God.

From 21st Century Science and Health

Human beings assume that they can live without goodness, when God is good and the only real Life. What is the result? They understand little about the divine Principle which saves and heals, and they get rid of sin, sickness, and death only in the temporal imagination. These errors thereby are not really destroyed. All that is unlike God will taint mortals until, here or hereafter, they gain the true understanding of God in the Science which destroys human delusions and reveals the grand realities of Spirit’s allness.

Acts 14:8-18

Now at Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet. He was crippled from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul speaking. And Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, 10 said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he sprang up and began walking. 11 And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in Lycaonian, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” 12 Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. 13 And the priest of Zeus, whose temple was at the entrance to the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates and wanted to offer sacrifice with the crowds. 14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their garments and rushed out into the crowd, crying out, 15 “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. 16 In past generations he allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways. 17 Yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good by giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.” 18 Even with these words they scarcely restrained the people from offering sacrifice to them.

From 21st Century Science and Health

The five physical senses are the avenues and instruments of human error. The limited senses bear witness to the entrenched human belief that life, substance, and intelligence is a mixture of the temporal and the eternal. This thinking constantly campaigns for error and carries within itself the seeds of all error.

Students of divine Science, who start with its letter and think to succeed without the spirit, will either weaken their faith or get sadly off course. They must not only seek, but strive, to enter the narrow path of Life, “for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it.”[2] We walk in the direction toward which we look, and where our gratification is, there will our heart be also. If our hopes and inclinations are spiritual, they come from enlightenment, not from trained thinking, and they produce the fruits of the Spirit.[3]

Psalm 52

Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all the day.
Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit.
You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right. Selah
You love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue.

But God will break you down forever; he will snatch and tear you from your tent;
he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah
The righteous shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying,
“See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches
and sought refuge in his own destruction!”

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God
forever and ever.
I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good,
in the presence of the godly.

From 21st Century Science and Health

People don’t die young because they occupy the most important jobs and perform the most vital functions in society. If leading thinkers and doers die young, it’s not because they occupied an important position. Think of Anglo-Irish explorer Ernest Shackelton,[4] and his expedition crew, who all survived overwhelming adversity in their 1914–1916 Antarctic expedition. Persons who act on integrity and goodness do not pay severe penalties. By adhering to the realities of spirituality—instead of reading studies on the inconsistent assumption that death comes in obedience to the law of life, and that God punishes people for doing good—one cannot suffer as the result of any labor of love, but grows stronger because of it. It is a law of so-called human mind, misnamed matter, which causes all things discordant.

The history of Christianity furnishes sublime proofs of the supporting influence and protecting power bestowed on us by our heavenly Father-Mother. Omnipotent Mind gives us faith and understanding whereby to safeguard our self, not only from temptation, but also from bodily suffering.

Here is a summary of four fundamental propositions of divine metaphysics. To me, they are self-evident. The propositions agree in statement and proof even if reversed.

  1. God is All-in-all.
  2. God is good. Good is Mind.
  3. God, Spirit, being all, nothing is matter.
  4. Life, God, omnipotent good, deny death, evil, sin, disease. Disease, sin, evil, death, deny good, omnipotent God, Life.

The dream that human mind and error are real or permanent must yield to reason and enlightenment. Then human beings will perceive the insubstantiality of sin and sickness, and sin and sickness will disappear from consciousness. The harmonious will appear real and the inharmonious will become extinct.

The false claim of error continues its delusions until the goal of goodness is steadfastly earned and won.

Immortal and divine Mind presents the idea of God: first, in light (enlightenment), second, in reflection, third, in spiritual and immortal forms of beauty and goodness.

Golden text: Psalm 19:2*

Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.

Luke 2: 1-7

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

From 21st Century Science and Health

To attend properly the birth of the new child, or divine idea, be sure to detach mortal thoughts from the human conceptions so that the birth will be natural and safe. As the child gathers new energy, the divine idea cannot injure its useful surroundings in its spiritual birth. There is not a single element of error in a spiritual idea and this truth properly removes anything that is offensive. The new idea, conceived and born of Truth and Love, is clothed in white garments and includes a humble beginning, a sturdy growth, and a renewing maturity. When this new birth takes place, the infant is born of the Spirit, born of God, and can cause the mother no more suffering. By this we know that Truth is here and has fulfilled its perfect work.

The sphere represents good, the self-existent and eternal individuality; the straight line represents futility, a beginning and an end, a belief in a self-made and material existence. A straight line finds no conformance to a curve, and a curve finds no adjustment to a straight line. Similarly, matter has no place in Spirit, and Spirit has no place in matter.

Luke 2: 8-19

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.

From 21st Century Science and Health

Earth has little light or joy before Life is spiritually learned. Every agony of mortal error helps error to destroy itself and we can perceive immortal Truth. This is the new birth going on hourly, by which human beings may entertain angels, the true ideas of God, the spiritual sense of being.

As a physical, theoretical life-basis is found to be a misinterpretation of existence, the scientific and divine Principle of our spirituality dawns upon human thought. Consciousness is guided to “where the child was”[1]—even to the birth of a new-old idea, to the spiritual sense of being and of what Life includes.

Luke 2:22-33

And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”) 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.” 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, 28 he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,

29 “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace,
according to your word;
30 for my eyes have seen your salvation
31     that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.”

33 And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him.

From 21st Century Science and Health

Marvels, disasters, and sin will increase to urge human beings to stop resisting the claims of Truth.

To the people unaware of spirituality, Science at first appears to be a mistake, and it is consequently misinterpreted and badly treated. Miracles are misunderstood and misused by many until the glorious Principle of these marvels is gained.

Jesus was the son of a virgin. He was appointed to speak God’s word and to appear to human beings in such a form of humanity as they could understand as well as perceive. Mary’s conception of him was spiritual, for only purity could reflect Truth and Love, which were plainly incarnate in the good and genuine Christ Jesus. He expressed the purest type of divinity, which a fleshly form could express in that age. Into the real and ideal child, the fleshly element can’t enter. Thus it is that Christ illustrates the consistency or spiritual agreement, between God and our identity as the image of God.

Luke 2: 34-40

And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed 35 (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”

36 And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, 37 and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. 38 And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

39 And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. 40 And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.

The divine origin of Jesus gave him more than human power to expound the facts of creation and demonstrate the one Mind which makes and governs person and the universe. The Science of creation, so conspicuous in the birth of Jesus, not only inspired his wisest and least understood sayings, but was also the basis of his marvelous actions. Christ is the offspring of Spirit, and spiritual existence shows that Spirit does not create a wicked person or a human being who lapses into sin, sickness, and death.

The promises will be fulfilled. The time for the reappearing of the divine healing is throughout all time.

In the words of St. John: “He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.”[2] This Counselor I understand to be divine Science.

Psalm 71: 1-6

In you, O Lord, do I take refuge;
let me never be put to shame!
In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me;
incline your ear to me, and save me!
Be to me a rock of refuge,
to which I may continually come;
you have given the command to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress.

Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man.
For you, O Lord, are my hope,
my trust, O Lord, from my youth.
Upon you I have leaned from before my birth;
you are he who took me from my mother’s womb.
My praise is continually of you.

All that comes from God is immortal and spiritual.

To achieve divine Science and its harmony, it pays to regard life more metaphysically.

The physical senses can’t tell us of what is real or what is delusive, whereas the revelations of divine Science unlock the treasures of Truth. There is but one Spirit. We are never God. Our spirituality is made in the likeness of Spirit.

Divine Science rescues us, and our birthright of sole allegiance to our Maker asserts itself.

Golden text: Romans 1: 20*

For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.

Luke 1:1-17

Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us, it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught.

In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord. But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years.

Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. 10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense. 11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. 13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, 17 and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”

From 21st Century Science and Health**

The ancient prophets received their foresight from a spiritual, metaphysical position, not by predicting evil and mistaking fiction as fact. Reading the future from the premise of fleshly and human belief is not scientific foresight. When sufficiently advanced in Science to be in agreement with the truth of being, people become seers and prophets involuntarily. Prophecy is not controlled by spirits, demons, or quantum entities, but by the one Spirit. It is the prerogative of the ever-present divine Mind, and of thought which is in alignment with this Mind, to know the past, the present, and the future.

Angels. God’s thoughts passing to people; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, brute-like inclinations, and mortality.

As we become better acquainted with the Science of being, we are better able to communicate with the divine Mind. Spiritual knowledge not only allows people to foresee and foretell events which concern the universal welfare, but it also inspires people divinely to reach the dimension of unfettered Mind, Spirit.

Mind is not bound by physicality. Mind is not dependent on the fleshly ear and eye for sound or sight. Mind is not contingent on corporeal muscles and bones for movement. To understand incorporeal Mind is to perceive that Mind is infinite.

Luke 1: 18-25

And Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.” 19 And the angel answered him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. 20 And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.” 21 And the people were waiting for Zechariah, and they were wondering at his delay in the temple. 22 And when he came out, he was unable to speak to them, and they realized that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he kept making signs to them and remained mute. 23 And when his time of service was ended, he went to his home.

24 After these days his wife Elizabeth conceived, and for five months she kept herself hidden, saying, 25 “Thus the Lord has done for me in the days when he looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.”

The higher Truth’s voice is lifted, the louder error will scream until its inarticulate noise is forever silenced in oblivion.

Reason is the most active human capability. Let rational thought guide the person’s feelings and awaken their dormant sense of moral obligation. By degrees, they will learn the nothingness of the pleasures of human sense and the greatness and happiness of spiritual sense. This silences the corporeal and the person will not only be saved, but is saved.

Do the material organs cause the eyes to see and the ears to hear? If so, when the body is dematerialized, these faculties must be lost, for their immortality is not in Spirit. The fact is, that only through a metaphysical dematerialization, can these faculties be conceived of as immortal.

Individual characteristics are understood in, and formed by, Spirit, not by mortal genes and environments. Whatever reflects Mind, Life, Truth, and Love, is spiritually conceived and brought forth, but the statements that person is conceived and evolved eternally and temporarily, or by both God and human beings, contradicts that eternal truth. All the vanity of the ages can never make contraries true. Divine Science obliterates the illusion that life or mind is formed by, or is in, the temporal body. As error self-destructs, Science removes the illusion of an incongruous life and mind through the spiritualized understanding of the Science of Life.

Luke 1:26-38

26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”

35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. 36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.” 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

From 21st Century Science and Health

The understanding that the Ego, I AM, is Mind, and that there is but one Mind or intelligence, begins at once to destroy the errors of human sense and to supply the truth of spiritual sense. This understanding makes the body harmonious; it makes the nerves, bones, brain, etc., servants, instead of masters.

The legitimate and only possible action of Truth is the production of harmony. Laws of nature are laws of Spirit; but human beings commonly recognize as law that which hides the power of Spirit. Divine Mind rightly demands our entire obedience, affection, and strength.

If we pray to God as though God is a measurable unit, human doubts and fears rear their ugly heads and become obstacles. Because of the human minds unawareness of God as divine Spirit, there is an unawareness of divine Principle, Love. As a result, the Father of all is represented as a corporeal creator. Human beings then recognize themselves as merely physical and are ignorant of God’s image as eternal incorporeal beings. Corporeality is not able to grasp the wonders brought about by incorporeal spiritual Love, to whom all things are possible. The brains electrochemical functioning is ignorant of the world of Truth—not wired to the reality of our immortal existence—for the world of materiality is not cognizant of life in Soul.

Infinite Mind is the creator, and creation is the infinite image or idea emanating from this Mind. If Mind is within and without all things, then all is Mind, and this definition is demonstrable.

Luke 1: 39-48, 56

In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, 40 and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. 41 And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, 42 and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”

46 And Mary said,

“My soul magnifies the Lord,
47     and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant.

56 And Mary remained with her about three months and returned to her home.

From 21st Century Science and Health

People are the humble expressions of calm Mind, though it seems otherwise to our immature perceptions.

Natural history is richly endowed by the labors and genius of great people. Modern breakthroughs, biotechnology, in vitro fertilization, and cloning, have brought to light important facts in regard to supposed embryonic life. But, to suppose life germinates in anything other than Mind is a blunder. All theories within the material realm never reach past the temporal. They will finally give place to higher theories and demonstrations.

The senses of Spirit remain in Love, and they manifest Truth and Life.

God is the creator of person, and, the divine Principle of person remaining complete, the divine idea or reflection, person, remains complete.

Golden text: Psalm 82:3*

Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.

I Kings 8: 1, 6, 10-11, 22-23, 46-51

Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ houses of the people of Israel, before King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion.

Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the Most Holy Place, underneath the wings of the cherubim.

10 And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord, 11 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.

22 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven, 23 and said, “O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and showing steadfast love to your servants who walk before you with all their heart;

46 “If they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you are angry with them and give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near, 47 yet if they turn their heart in the land to which they have been carried captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captors, saying, ‘We have sinned and have acted perversely and wickedly,’ 48 if they repent with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies, who carried them captive, and pray to you toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city that you have chosen, and the house that I have built for your name, 49 then hear in heaven your dwelling place their prayer and their plea, and maintain their cause 50 and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions that they have committed against you, and grant them compassion in the sight of those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them 51 (for they are your people, and your heritage, which you brought out of Egypt, from the midst of the iron furnace).

From 21st Century Science and Health**

Temple. Body; the idea of Life, substance, and intelligence; the structure of Truth; the sanctuary of Love; a material structure where humanity congregates for worship.

We disown the Almighty when we try to attribute spiritual power to matter. Every time human theories give material elements power, we run into the quandaries of believing: the self-evolution and self-government of matter; or, that matter is the product of Spirit. The first assumption, matter as a power in and of itself, leaves the creator out of His own universe. The second presumption, regarding God as the creator of matter, automatically makes God responsible for all disasters; physical and moral. The unavoidable dilemma of empowering matter also makes infinite Life not only the source of destruction, but also makes Spirit guilty of maintaining perpetual disorder, all under the name of natural law.

When law is portrayed as physical instead of spiritual, natural science represents a kingdom divided against its self.[1] In absolute Love, nature and God are one, law is spiritual and the natural order of heaven comes down to earth.

Spirit is the life, substance, and continuity of all things. We move on forces. Withdraw them and creation must collapse. Human knowledge calls them forces of matter. Divine Science restores the forces by classifying them spiritually and by declaring them inherently and wholly to belong to divine Mind.

I Kings 8: 54-61

54 Now as Solomon finished offering all this prayer and plea to the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, where he had knelt with hands outstretched toward heaven. 55 And he stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying, 56 “Blessed be the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. Not one word has failed of all his good promise, which he spoke by Moses his servant. 57 The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us, 58 that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his rules, which he commanded our fathers. 59 Let these words of mine, with which I have pleaded before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God day and night, and may he maintain the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel, as each day requires, 60 that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God; there is no other. 61 Let your heart therefore be wholly true to the Lord our God, walking in his statutes and keeping his commandments, as at this day.”

From 21st Century Science and Health

It is constructive for physicians, therapists, and practitioners to know and act on the truth that Mind is existent. Healers should not take the position that matter is the only cause.

Love is priestess at the altar of Truth.

People who discern divine reality will hold crime in check; they will help in the ejection of error. They will maintain law and order, and cheerfully serve the certainty of ultimate perfection.

We should remember that Life is God, and that God is omnipotent. To forget that God is our Life, is unconsciously to enable suffering instead of contradict it. Not understanding divine Science, the sick usually have little faith in it until they feel its altruistic influence. This shows that faith is not the healer in such cases. The sick admit the reality of affliction, whereas, they should defy it. We should stand up against the testimony of the deceitful senses, while maintaining our spirituality and ongoing likeness to God.

The identity or idea of reality continues forever. Soul is synonymous with Spirit, God; the creative, governing, infinite Principle, which is reflected by creation. Spirit is never inside a finite form.

Mark 12:35-40

35 And as Jesus taught in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? 36 David himself, in the Holy Spirit, declared,

“‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
until I put your enemies under your feet.”’

37 David himself calls him Lord. So how is he his son?” And the great throng heard him gladly.

38 And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and like greetings in the marketplaces 39 and have the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, 40 who devour widows’ houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”

From 21st Century Science and Health

Jesus established his church and maintained his mission on a spiritual foundation of Truth-healing. His followers were taught that religion has a divine Principle which would overcome error and heal both the sick and the sinning.

As the true knowledge of God becomes evident, the outdated concept of God as a mighty hero, lord, or king, will continue to vanish. Creeds and rituals still need to wash their hands of religious lore.

The powers of this world will react and the old-guard will try to stop truth and make it submit to their human standards and systems. Science, not distracted by threats or assaults, continues to progress. There is always some chaos; however a mobilization to truth’s standard is inevitable.

Continue to recognize the nothingness of illusions—stay on the path Science is walking—and the ingrained illusions of human beings will be replaced with reality.

Ephesians 4: 1-8

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore it says,

“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives,
and he gave gifts to men.”

From 21st Century Science and Health

Can we lose our rich inheritance and God’s gifts? No! Perfection and dominion were never given to mortal human beings.

Instead of possessing our own sentient form, we reflect Soul-sense. God, the Soul of all existence, being perpetual in individuality, harmony, and spirituality, imparts and preserves harmony and spirituality in us— through Mind, not matter/energy.

The history of Christianity furnishes sublime proofs of the supporting influence and protecting power bestowed on us by our heavenly Father-Mother. Omnipotent Mind gives us faith and understanding whereby to safeguard our self, not only from temptation, but also from bodily suffering.

The Scriptures are sacred. Our aim must be to have them understood spiritually, for only by this understanding can truth be gained. The true theory of the universe, including person, is not in material history but in spiritual development. Mental evolution, or ascension, inspires thought to expand to a higher awareness and relinquish a changeable, superficial, mortal theory of the universe. The spiritual and immortal are then adopted through metaphysical improvement.

All of God’s creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, and indestructible.

The divine Mind that made us, maintains us.

Golden text: Psalms 62:8*

Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

 Ecclesiastes 3: 1-13

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.

From 21st Century Science and Health**

On our spiritual journey, if we sympathize with mortality, we will be at the beck and call of error and follow a zig-zag course getting nowhere. If we travel with the worldly minded, we get sucked into a nasty cycle. A good example of this is randomly walking around the shopping mall, making feel-good purchases, and eating junk food with friends. We return home, thinking we had a good time and feeling satisfied. However, when re-thinking the situation we realize that too much time and money was wasted. So, we repeat the trip to the mall but buy books on time and financial management, or dieting.

Our moral and spiritual progress will be monotonously slow if we constantly bounce back and forth between futile habits and the hope of forgiveness.

Who are we traveling with? If, from Boston, my friends are going to New Zealand while I am headed to California, we obviously are not traveling together. We have separate time-zones to consider, different routes to pursue, and opposite seasons to consider. Our journeys have diverged from the start and we don’t have much opportunity to help each other. On the other hand, if my friends pursue my direction, we have the same itinerary and interests. If I take up their line of travel, they help me on, and our companionship may continue.

Ecclesiastes 3: 14-22

I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.

15 Whatever is has already been,
and what will be has been before;
and God will call the past to account.

16 And I saw something else under the sun:

In the place of judgment—wickedness was there,
in the place of justice—wickedness was there.

17 I said to myself,

“God will bring into judgment
both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
a time to judge every deed.”

18 I also said to myself, “As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. 19 Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. 21 Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”

22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?

From 21st Century Science and Health

Nothing is real and eternal—nothing is Spirit—except God and God’s idea. Evil has no reality. Evil is not a person, place, or thing, but is in the end a misinterpretation of reality, an illusion of human mortal perceptions.

The identity or idea of reality continues forever. Soul is synonymous with Spirit, God; the creative, governing, infinite Principle, which is reflected by creation

Detach feelings from the body, or matter, which is only a type of human belief. Learn the meaning of God, or good, and the nature of the immutable and immortal. Don’t worry when breaking away from mutating time and feelings, because you will not lose your sense of reality, or your own identity. As you contemplate spiritual life, consciousness is purified and being groomed to experience the celestial; similar to a chick which has broken from the shell and preens its wings for a skyward flight.

Let us prepare for the supremacy of Spirit, the kingdom of heaven—the government and law of universal harmony, which cannot be lost or remain forever unseen.

John 5: 16-30

16 So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. 17 In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” 18 For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. 21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. 25 Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.

28 “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29 and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned. 30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.

From 21st Century Science and Health

Take the time to look past the fading, sensational pictures. Gain the true sense of life. Rest your gaze on the unsearchable realm of Mind.

The life of Christ Jesus was not miraculous, but it was indigenous to his spirituality—the good soil wherein the seed of Truth is heard, understood, and producing a great crop.[1] Spirituality is the consistent link of scientific being, connecting all space/time in the design of Love. Illusion, chance, and depleted vitality do not exist in divine Science.

Jesus instructed his disciples to heal the sick through Mind instead of matter. He knew that the philosophy, Science, and proof of spirituality were in Truth, overcoming all disorders and confusion.

I Peter 1:13-25

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,

“All people are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25     but the word of the Lord endures forever.”

From 21st Century Science and Health

The realm of the real is Spirit. Anything unlike Spirit is a human concept. Matter/energy and time/space are incomplete concepts. Being incomplete, they lead to incomplete statements.

Mind is the divine Principle, Love, and can produce nothing unlike the eternal Father-Mother, God. Reality is spiritual, harmonious, unchangeable, indestructible, divine, and timeless.

Creations of matter must return to dust, whereas Spirit’s expression is substantial and eternal.

The eternal Truth destroys what human beings have learned from error, and our real selfhood comes to light. Truth lived is eternal life.

The objects of space/time, wave/particle, and temporal impressions disappear in the illumination of spiritual understanding, and Mind measures time according to the good that is revealed.
