Golden text: Psalms 100:3-4 NIV, COPYRIGHT BY Biblica Inc
Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
Luke 2:4-7, 22, 36-38
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
22 When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.
36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. 38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

Any conclusion pro or con, deduced from matter’s assumed consciousness leads to legitimizing the testimony of physical senses and disease. But we can reverse the testimony of physical senses.
Sputnik and NASA changed the world view when launching into outer space. Setbacks happened, but courage set the precedence. Consequently, outgrown philosophies, based on what physical senses say, have become extinct. The physical law of gravity can’t define us. Space exploration, thought expansion, bravery, and open-mindedness, continues.
Albert Einstein recognized, and made public, the general theory of relativity. Time, space, and mass are relative, or in other words uncertain, but since they’ve been better identified, facts are more correctly studied and scientific corrections and modifications continue.
Chaldean Wisemen read in the stars the future, but even bleak horoscopes can’t keep us from seeing a bright earth and heaven. Birds and blossoms are thankful in God’s perennial and happy sunshine, golden with Truth. Although we have goodness and beauty to cheer the heart, the hypotheses of mortal perceptions, unexplained by divine Science, make us believe we are mere wandering comets—or as Maya Angelou wrote:
Manless and friendless
No cave my home
This is my torture
My long nights, lone.
Science shows that appearances are often mistaken, leading to false judgments and conclusions. To correct the mistakes, we follow the simple rule that the greater controls the lesser. For example: the infinite controls the finite and new discoveries are brought to light; the idea of infinity discounted the mistake of a “static universe.” The universe is not fixed but expanding and contracting, although indistinguishable to the temporal senses. Furthermore, the rate of expansion is greater than the contracting and the cosmos is moving away with space, not even through space. The universe exemplifies the infinite. There is no edge to the universe. From anywhere in the universe, it appears as though it is the center of an ever-expanding heaven. Even our solar system orbits the outer edge of a spiral galaxy called the Milky Way, and is indefinitely expanding and rotating in its own unique path.
The pattern of astronomy imitates the action of ever-expanding divine Principle and reflects God. The pattern brings the universe nearer the spiritual fact, as fashioned after an everlasting government.
Let us feel the divine energy of Spirit bringing us into newness of life and recognize no human or material power as able to destroy. Let us rejoice that we are open to the divine “governing authorities.” Such is the true Science of being.
I Corinthians 14:1-19
Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. 2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. 3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. 4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. 5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.
6 Now, brothers and sisters, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction? 7 Even in the case of lifeless things that make sounds, such as the pipe or harp, how will anyone know what tune is being played unless there is a distinction in the notes? 8 Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle? 9 So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air. 10 Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning. 11 If then I do not grasp the meaning of what someone is saying, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and the speaker is a foreigner to me. 12 So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church.
13 For this reason the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15 So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. 16 Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer, say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are saying? 17 You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified.
18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 19 But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.
21st Century Science and Health
Science presents the calm and clear verdict of Truth against error, voiced and illustrated by the prophets, by Jesus, and by his apostles, as recorded in Scriptures.
People go into ecstasies over the sense of a humanistic Lord, though with scarcely a spark of love in their hearts; yet God is Love, and without Love, spirituality can’t appear.
Eloquence re-echoes the tones of Truth and Love. It is due to inspiration rather than erudition and shows the possibilities derived from divine Mind. Sometimes, eloquence is determined to be a gift from departed spirits, but what is the medium capable of knowing or saying when the spirit is absent? This question leads to the answer that channeled eloquence involves beliefs that can be undone. The medium first believes they are ignorant and can’t speak, yet that belief is let loose and the medium then believes a departed spirit possesses and is speaking through them only for that belief to fall flat when the departed spirit leaves.
The speaker then says, “I am uneducated and incapable of eloquent words.” Instances such as these reaffirm the Scriptural word concerning a person, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” If a person believes that they cannot be a public speaker without study or without an outside influence, the body responds to this attitude and the tongue is tied.
Mind is not necessarily dependent on the education process. Mind possesses of itself all eloquence, beauty, and poetry. Mind has the power to express prose. Spirit, God, is heard when the human mind’s noise is silent. We are all capable of more than we do. The action of Soul confers the freedom that explains excellent impromptu speeches, admirable movie scripts, or meaningful texts.
Material energy is neither intelligent nor creative.
Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh. 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.
21st Century Science and Health
It takes effort not to bury the spirit of divine Science in the burial clothes of its letter. If we would open the prison doors for the sick, we must first learn to bind up the broken-hearted. If we would heal by the Spirit, we must not hide the talent of spiritual healing behind ostentatious status, ritualistic activities, or even somber piety. In the presence of a sick person, employ tender words and spiritual encouragement. Patiently remove all fears, without gushing theories, stereotyped clichés, and rigid arguments which are so many misrepresentations of divine Science, aflame with divine Love.
We seek Truth, not for “the loaves” and fishes, and not like the Pharisees with the arrogance of professional status and display of academia. Like the woman at Jesus’ feet, we discover infinite Truth through pure inner tendencies, with the oil of gladness and the perfume of gratitude, with tears of repentance, and with those hairs all numbered by the Father-Mother.
To understand God is a work of eternity and it demands pure commitment of thought, energy, and desire.
Do we have empty thoughts of Deity? We admit theoretically that God is good, omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient, and yet, we try to give information to this infinite Mind. We may even ask for undeserved forgiveness or benefits. We can rather ask, “Do we really appreciate the good we’ve already received?” If so, then we will put to good use the blessings we have and be prepared to receive more.
Appreciation is much more than a verbal expression of thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech. In some cases, there is a tendency to thank God for all our blessings, yet not really be grateful for Life, Truth, and Love. Don’t be a hypocrite! You can’t hide the ingratitude of a barren, superficial life. Jesus criticized hypocrites. If you find yourself ungrateful, quietly ponder your blessings.
You can rejoice in secret beauty and abundance, hidden from worldliness but known to God. Constant prayer spiritualizes thoughts and causes the mortal selfhood to be less demanding and distracting. A mindful practice has the ear and right hand of omnipotence and assuredly calls upon infinite blessings.
