Subject: Love

Golden text: Hosea 6:1

“Come, let us return to the Lord;
    for he has torn us, that he may heal us;
he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.

Genesis 6:11-4

Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. 13 And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make yourself an ark of gopher wood.

Genesis 7:1-6, 17

Then the Lord said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation. Take with you seven pairs of all clean animals, the male and his mate, and a pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and his mate, and seven pairs of the birds of the heavens also, male and female, to keep their offspring alive on the face of all the earth. For in seven days I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground.” And Noah did all that the Lord had commanded him.

Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth.

17 The flood continued forty days on the earth. The waters increased and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.

Genesis 8:6-12

At the end of forty days Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made and sent forth a raven. It went to and fro until the waters were dried up from the earth. Then he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters had subsided from the face of the ground. But the dove found no place to set her foot, and she returned to him to the ark, for the waters were still on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her and brought her into the ark with him. 10 He waited another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark. 11 And the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth. 12 Then he waited another seven days and sent forth the dove, and she did not return to him anymore.

21st Century Science and Health**

Creations of matter must return to dust, whereas Spirit’s creations are substantial and eternal. It’s an error to believe we are both mental and physical. Divine Science invalidates error and maintains our spiritual identity.

When darkness comes over the earth, the physical senses have no direct evidence of a sun. The human eye doesn’t know where the light of day is, or if it exists. Astronomy gives the desired information. The physical senses accept the authority of astronomy. If our eyes see no sun for a week, we still understand that there is solar light and heat. Natural science advances human thought past the crude theories of the human mind, and dissolves fear.

Along the same train of thought, divine Science explains the effect of human mind on the body, though the cause is unseen, and advances thought past crude theories and fear. The sins of other people should not make good people suffer.

We call the body material, but it is truly materialist mind. The human mortal mind, by an inevitable perversion, makes all things start from the lowest instead of from the highest mortal thought. The reverse is the case with all the formations of the immortal divine Mind in which thoughts proceed from the divine source and constantly ascend in infinite being.

From human mind comes the reproduction of the species—first the belief of inanimate DNA, and then of animate conscious matter. We are taught that the embryonic human mind begins in the central nervous system and develops into a brain, always keeping in line with matter, which is the subjective condition of human mind.

Next, we have the formation of an emerging human mind, defined as a human being. All this while flesh is ignorant of its self and of what it is producing. Why do we go along with the theory that an unconscious network of nerve cells evolves and produces both body and mind? The mortal’s mind, and certainly the immortal Mind, is not found in brain or elsewhere in matter or in human beings.

The genotypic and physiological mortal humanity in turn fills itself with thoughts of pain and pleasure, gains and losses. The belief of humanized molecules also arranges itself into five so-called senses, which presently measure mind and body by the number of synapses in the brain and by mass weight.

Human birth, growth, maturity, and decay are as the grass springing from the soil with beautiful green blades, afterward to wither and return to its native nothingness. These human impressions are temporal; they never merge into spiritual being, but finally disappear and spiritual being, which is eternal, is found to be the real.

Progress comes from experience. Humanity is improved as the mortal is dropped for the immortal.

Ark. Safety; the idea, or reflection, of Truth, proved to be as immortal as its Principle; the understanding of Spirit, destroying belief in matter.

A holy view of health stabilizes the body’s equilibrium, and the body’s systems resume their healthy operations.

When the blood pressure is too high or too low, we call these conditions disease. This is a misperception. Mortal mind is producing the abnormal pressure and we prove this to be so, when thought-power changes blood pressure and it returns to the standard which human mind has decided upon as essential for health. Topical pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and aspirin never reduce pain or inflammation scientifically, but the truth of being, whispered into the ear of human mind, will bring relief.

Hatred and its effects on the body are removed by Love.

Matthew 10:5-13

These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, 10 no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food. 11 And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. 12 As you enter the house, greet it. 13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

21st Century Science and Health

The Bible declares that all believers “will be called priests of the Lord.”[1]

Adopt scientific religion and divine healing to ameliorate sin and dying. Let our pulpits and the press do justice to divine Science, giving it fair representation. Give Science a place in institutions of learning that teach the eradication of sickness and sin. Use Science to replace the old systems devised only for subduing mortality and always falling short.

We can return to measuring Christianity by its power over sickness, sin, and the loss of good. Modern religions generally omit all but one of these powers—the power over sin. We must work for the seamless garment.[2] Truth provides us with necessary evidence as we seek and prove the whole Christ.

If religious people accept church salaries and build churches, yet turn away the poor and stranger, they are shutting the door on progress. Let the stories of Jesus’ birth in a manger and death on a cross, deflate human arrogance and egotism. Gratification of the physical senses will numb the right hand and cause the left to let go of its grasp on the divine.

Sickness, sin, and death are not the merchandise of Life. They are simulations or virtual realities which Truth destroys with immortal reality. God is good and as the source of all being, God does not produce moral or physical deformity, therefore such deformity is not real but is illusion—is the mirage of error. Divine Science reveals these grand facts and on their basis, Jesus demonstrated Life, never fearing or obeying error in any form.

If we were to derive all our conceptions of people from what is seen between the cradle and the grave, happiness and goodness would have no home for us. Bacterium would rob us of the flesh. Death would dissolve our substance.

To undergo birth, maturity, and decay is like the beasts and vegetables—answerable to laws of change and deterioration. If man and woman were dust in the earliest stage of existence, we might admit the hypothesis that individuals eventually return to their primitive condition of dirt; but we are not more or less than God’s child.

If individuals end in death, maybe to return again from dust, there must be instances when God is without the entire manifestation. But in the infinite, there can’t be one instant when Mind isn’t fully reflected.

The misperception of Life as something less than God, with no truth to support it, collapses upon itself. This misperception will reach the climax of suffering, yield to Truth and return to dust. However, it is only a mortal person and not the real person who dies. The image of Spirit can’t be effaced, since it is the idea of Truth. The image of Truth doesn’t change, but becomes more beautifully apparent at error’s demise.

In divine Science, the mortal identity is shut out from the presence of God. The fleshly senses can’t cognize Spirit. The knowledge filter of human mind—filtering out what doesn’t fit into its personal paradigm—can’t come into the presence of God, and must live in fantasyland until mortals arrive at the understanding that limited life, with all its sin, sickness, and death, is an illusion against which divine Science is engaged in a warfare of extermination. The great verities of existence are never excluded by falsity.

The relationship between God and person, divine Principle and idea, is indestructible in Science, and Science knows no drifting from or return to harmony, but holds the divine relationship or spiritual law in which God and all creation is complete, eternal, and remaining unchanged in its eternal history.
