Subject: All in all
Golden text: Ephesians 3:14-19*
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Romans 11:1-6, 25-27
I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel? 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.” 4 But what is God’s reply to him? “I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5 So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace. 6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.
25 Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,
“The Deliverer will come from Zion,
he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;
27 “and this will be my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”

Why do people profess to follow Christ and yet reject the essential teachings Jesus came to establish? Jesus’ persecutors made their strongest attack on his instructions of love and life; they even endeavored to hold Jesus at the mercy of matter and kill him according to the physical law of destruction.
The Pharisees claimed to know and to teach the divine will, but they only hindered the success of Jesus’ mission. Even many of his students became obstacles. If the Teacher hadn’t taken a student and taught the unseen truths of God, he would not have been crucified. The determination to hold Spirit in the grasp of matter is the persecutor of Truth and Love.
While respecting all that is good in the Church or out of it, one’s dedication to Christ is more on the ground of demonstration than of profession. In conscience, we can’t stay in a mindset we have outgrown. We are enabled to heal the sick and overcome sin by understanding more of the divine Principle of the deathless Christ.
The origin, the character, and the work of Jesus were not generally understood. Even his righteousness and purity didn’t stop the crowds from saying: He is a glutton and a friend of the impure, and Beelzebub is his supporter. The materialist is unable to evaluate properly the nature of spirituality.
Remember, when you are persecuted because of spirituality, it is enough if you are found worthy to untie the Teacher’s sandals. To suppose that oppression for righteousness’ sake belongs to the past and that Christianity today is at peace with the world because it is honored by sects and societies, is to mistake the very nature of religion. Misguided mindsets repeat themselves. The trials encountered by prophet, disciple, and apostle, of “whom the world was not worthy,” stalks every pioneer of truth.
There is too much animal courage in society and not enough moral courage. Christians must take up arms against limited mindsets at home and abroad. They must wrestle with selfish and incomplete views in themselves and in others, and continue this warfare until they have finished the course. If they keep the faith, they will receive the honor of rejoicing.
[Jesus] went on from there and entered their synagogue. 10 And a man was there with a withered hand. And they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—so that they might accuse him. 11 He said to them, “Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? 12 Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” 13 Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, healthy like the other. 14 But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how to destroy him.
15 Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he healed them all 16 and ordered them not to make him known. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:
18 “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen,
my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased.
I will put my Spirit upon him,
and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
19 He will not quarrel or cry aloud,
nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets;
20 a bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not quench,
until he brings justice to victory;
21 and in his name the Gentiles will hope.”

Spiritual beings, or God’s children in divine Science, are one harmonious family; but the children of human beings are discordant and oftentimes fake.
As mass consciousness advances to a perception of the invisible God, Mind-healing as instructed by Jesus, is liable to misinterpretations; however, misinterpretations don’t affect the invincible facts of Truth.
Perhaps the early Christian era did Jesus no more injustice than the later centuries have. Questions are posed today to people who profess to love Jesus: If that Godlike and glorified man were physically on earth today, would you reject him? Would you deny him the rights of humanity, if he entertained any other sense of being and religion than yours?
The healing Truth and spiritual idea of being are often disregarded at the pulpit, over the air, or through the internet. The curative mission (presenting the Savior in a clearer light than mere words), can’t be omitted from our spiritual education, even if it is ruled out of the church or temple.
Anatomy can’t describe God’s child created by Spirit. Anatomy explains the child of human beings, not the counterpart, but the counterfeit of God’s child. Anatomy has no Spirit, no true tone, and accepts disorder. Theologies that start from the false premise that God created human beings, try to convert a disordered person into a Christian. These teachings that define people as both physical and mental, with a mind at the mercy of matter for every function, formation, and manifestation, start from the lowest instead of the highest concept of being, and reject the divine Principle which created us spiritually. We can’t produce the harmony and unity of Spirit from anatomical or bio-theological positions.
Physiology and biotechnology promote matter, debar Mind, and claim to rule by temporal laws instead of spiritual laws. This process fails to give health or life, and ignores the divine Spirit as unable or unwilling to render help in time of physical need. When mortals sin, limited theology admits God to be the healer of sin but not of sickness, whereas our great Master proved that Truth could save from sickness and sin.
So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, 35 but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. 36 As for the word that he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all), 37 you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, 40 but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear, 41 not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

The overbearing tendencies inherent in the human mind and always germinating in new forms of tyranny, must be rooted out through the action of the divine Mind.
Men and women of all environments and cultures are still under the control of terrorists and bullies, ignorant how to obtain their freedom. The rights of humanity are being vindicated as people fight for equal rights and remove dictators from office. This pro-action prophesies further banishment of world-wide oppression found on higher planes of existence and under subtler and more depraving forms.
The voice of God in behalf of all people is reverberating around the world as the spokesperson of the new revolution sounds the keynote of universal mental freedom. A fuller acknowledgement of our rights as useful spiritual individuals, demands the terrors of sin and sickness be exterminated from the human mind. Spiritual freedom is gained, not through human warfare, but through spiritual Science.
Clergy, chaplains, and spiritual leaders who observe the world should advance the standard of Truth. They should inspire listeners to love grappling with a new right idea and broadening their views. Love of spirituality, rather than love of popularity, should stimulate work and progress. Truth should emanate from the pulpit, but never be strangled there. A special privilege is commissioned in the ministry. How will it be used? Sacredly, in the interests of humanity, not of self or sect.
In this world, thought brings to light many useful wonders. The force of thought advances toward the spiritual cause of those things that give impulse to inquiry. Humanity slowly yields to the thoughts of divine Mind and looks away from physics to metaphysics as the cause of every effect. In this revolutionary period, physical hypotheses challenge metaphysics to meet in final combat. Like the shepherd-boy with his sling; we go forth to battle with the Goliath of the human mind and its material mysterious world.
When the divine precepts are understood, they reveal orderly relationships and cooperation between creatures, because we all have one Spirit, God, one intelligent source, in accord with the Scriptural command: “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.” We, and our Maker have an unbreakable relationship in divine Science, and real consciousness is cognizant only of the things of God.
