Golden text: Psalms 55:20-22*
My companion stretched out his hand against his friends; he violated his covenant. 21 His speech was smooth as butter, yet war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords. 22 Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Daniel 2:1-2, 10, 13-16, 31-45
In the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his spirit was troubled, and his sleep left him. 2 Then the king commanded that the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans be summoned to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king.
The Chaldeans answered the king and said, “There is not a man on earth who can meet the king’s demand, for no great and powerful king has asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or Chaldean.
13 So the decree went out, and the wise men were about to be killed; and they sought Daniel and his companions, to kill them. 14 Then Daniel replied with prudence and discretion to Arioch, the captain of the king’s guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon. 15 He declared to Arioch, the king’s captain, “Why is the decree of the king so urgent?” Then Arioch made the matter known to Daniel. 16 And Daniel went in and requested the king to appoint him a time, that he might show the interpretation to the king.
31 “You saw, O king, and behold, a great image. This image, mighty and of exceeding brightness, stood before you, and its appearance was frightening. 32 The head of this image was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its middle and thighs of bronze, 33 its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay. 34 As you looked, a stone was cut out by no human hand, and it struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. 35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold, all together were broken in pieces, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, so that not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
36 “This was the dream. Now we will tell the king its interpretation. 37 You, O king, the king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, and the might, and the glory, 38 and into whose hand he has given, wherever they dwell, the children of man, the beasts of the field, and the birds of the heavens, making you rule over them all—you are the head of gold. 39 Another kingdom inferior to you shall arise after you, and yet a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth. 40 And there shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, because iron breaks to pieces and shatters all things. And like iron that crushes, it shall break and crush all these. 41 And as you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom, but some of the firmness of iron shall be in it, just as you saw iron mixed with the soft clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 As you saw the iron mixed with soft clay, so they will mix with one another in marriage, but they will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with clay. 44 And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever, 45 just as you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. A great God has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.”

As a physical, theoretical life-basis is found to be a misinterpretation of existence, the scientific and divine Principle of our spirituality dawns upon human thought. Consciousness is guided to “where the child was”—even to the birth of a new-old idea, to the spiritual sense of being and of what Life includes. Thus, the whole earth will be transformed by Truth as enlightened thought displaces the darkness of error.
Divine Science differs from the hard and soft sciences, but is preeminently scientific because it’s based on Truth, the Principle of all science.
The hard and soft sciences are human knowledge; beliefs; human inventions; a shaved Samson without strength. When human beliefs lack organizations to support them, their foundations are gone. Not having moral might, spiritual basis, or a holy Principle of its own, a belief mistakes effect for cause and seeks to find life and intelligence in matter, thus limiting Life and adhering to disorder and death. Basically, human beliefs are blind conclusions made from unreliable reasoning. A mortal sense of things is forever silenced by immortal Spirit.
We can interpret and understand the universe and its inhabitants by Science from its divine Principle, God. But, when explained on the basis of physical sense and represented as exposed to change, accumulation and decay, the universe and its inhabitants are enigmas.
Gravitational, electromagnetic, and nuclear forces are properties of Mind. They belong to divine Principle and support the equilibrium of that same thought-force which launched the earth in its orbit and said to the proud wave, “this far you may come and no farther.”
Spirit is the life, substance, and continuity of all things. We move on forces. Withdraw them and creation must collapse. Human knowledge calls them forces of matter. Divine Science restores the forces by classifying them spiritually and by declaring them inherently and wholly to belong to divine Mind.
The astronomer no longer looks up to the stars—but looks out from them upon the universe. The florist finds the flower before its seed. Every cell can be seen before its multiplication. The seasons come and go with changes of time and tide, cold and heat, latitude and longitude. Farmers will find that these changes can’t affect crops. “Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.” The navigator can have dominion over the weather, over the great deep, over the fish of the sea and the fowls of the air. Time will not affect life.
Matter will finally be proved nothing more than an erroneous virtual reality, wholly inadequate to affect individual beings through its supposed action or existence. Error, belief, will no longer be used in stating truth. The problem of the dust-to-dust reality will be solved, and human mind will be without form and void. Mortality ceases when we behold God’s reflection—just as we see our reflection in a mirror.
All Science is divine. Human thought never devised a tiny bit of true being. Human belief looks for and interprets in its own way the echo of Spirit and seems to have reversed it and repeated it materially.
Divine Science isn’t what we call the hard or soft sciences (e.g. chemistry, biology, physics, and psychology). The conditions of the hard and soft sciences are built on the false hypotheses that matter or the human mind is its own reality maker and lawgiver, whereas Spirit is the only reality and lawgiver. The might of divine Mind can’t be overruled by the sciences limited to changeable forces. Good is natural and primary. It is not miraculous to itself.
The term Science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to Spirit’s government of the universe and us. Business professionals, scholars, and ordinary people have found that divine Science increases their perseverance and mental powers. The knowledge of spiritual Science expands people’s perception of character, gives them alertness and the ability to be thorough and multitask usefully. The human mind, inspired with spiritual understanding, becomes more resilient and is capable of increased stamina. The human mind can escape somewhat from itself and won’t require so much sleep. Knowledge of the Science of being develops our dormant abilities and potential. Spiritual discernment opens the mind and we attain access to far-reaching and grand realms, we are elevated into our natural state of insightfulness and perspicacity.
After [Jesus] had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum. 2 Now a centurion had a servant who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him. 3 When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him, 5 for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us our synagogue.” 6 And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed. 8 For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 9 When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” 10 And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.

The present new, yet old, reform in religious faith will patiently and wisely teach us not to give in to sectarian bitterness when it flows inward.
The elements of the physical world and the functions of the physical body will change as human mind changes its beliefs. What is now considered the best condition for biological and functional health may no longer be found indispensable to health in the future. Moral conditions will always be found harmonious and health-giving. Biological inaction and over-action are not beyond God’s control. People will be found normal and natural as mortal thought grows out of the phases which human belief creates and sanctions.
As human thought changes from one stage to another, from conscious pain to painlessness, from sorrow to joy, from fear to hope, and from faith to understanding, the visible manifestation will at last be self-governed by Soul. Reflecting God’s control, you are no longer controlled by physical sense or mind. When subordinate to the divine Spirit, we cannot be controlled by sin or death, and material theories about laws of health lose their value.
The divine Science of the Scriptures can’t be totally obscured, even up against all the odds of religious officials voting to decide what should or shouldn’t be considered Holy Writ, and readers making mistakes in its translations. As in the past, misinterpretations of Scripture occur today. However, the prophets’ healing work can’t be annulled or lost, and healing demonstrations are intact, confirming that “the stone the builders rejected has become the capstone.”
Atheism, pantheism, theosophy, and agnosticism are opposed to divine Science, as they are to ordinary religion, however, a person who identifies with atheistic tendencies can still be healed by Science, because, more than in most cases, it’s the moral condition that demands the remedy of Truth and Science is more than usually effectual in the treatment of moral weaknesses.
Nobody can affirm that God is a bodily being. The Bible represents Spirit as saying: “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.” Not materially, but spiritually we know God as divine Mind, as Life, Truth, and Love.
The objects of space, time, waves, particles, and temporal impressions disappear in the illumination of spiritual understanding, and Mind measures time according to the good that is revealed.
Think of this: for it can lift the sackcloth from your eyes and allow you to behold the soft-winged dove descending on you. The very circumstance, which your suffering sense thinks is horrible and distressing, Love can make you entertain “angels without knowing it.” Then thought gently whispers: Come on! No more attention on narrow-minded conclusions; now, experience the true sense of Love. Observe the Lamb’s wife—Love wedded to its own spiritual idea. Then comes the marriage reception, for this revelation will destroy forever the physical plagues imposed on human beings by limited perceptions.
