Golden text: Isaiah 26:3*

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

II Chronicles 27:1-6

Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Uzziah had done, but unlike him he did not enter the temple of the Lord. The people, however, continued their corrupt practices. Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the temple of the Lord and did extensive work on the wall at the hill of Ophel. He built towns in the hill country of Judah and forts and towers in the wooded areas.

Jotham waged war against the king of the Ammonites and conquered them. That year the Ammonites paid him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand cors of wheat and ten thousand cors of barley. The Ammonites brought him the same amount also in the second and third years.

Jotham grew powerful because he walked steadfastly before the Lord his God.

Exercise the power of intelligence to displace unintelligent behavior. The application of spiritual intelligence can also cause threatening situations to self-destruct. The cure of matter does not come from within itself. Remember: hypnotism, surgeries, and medicines can counteract one another or create bad reactions. The antagonistic reactions are similar to one animal infuriating another by looking it in the eye and both fighting for nothing.

The epoch approaches when true religion will be built on the understanding of the truth of being. However, people are slow to understand truth because they are obsessed with fashion, pride, bodies, and opinions. These fixations make us weary and old because it goes against our higher nature. At some point, we will break through the fleeting and false and learn how Spirit, the great architect, has created us in Science.

We cry because others cry, we yawn because they yawn, and we have the flu because others have it; but human mind, not matter, contains and carries the infection. When this mental contagion is understood, we will be more careful with our mental conditions. We will avoid continually talking about disease just as we would avoid advocating crime. It is to our advantage never to let sympathy and society tempt us to cherish error in any form, and certainly we should not be error’s advocate.

Faith in the rules of genetics or drugs procreates and fosters disease. A faith in mortality attracts the mind to the subject of sickness by exciting fear of disease and by dosing the body with chemicals to avoid a problem. Faith can, however, find a stronger support and a higher home in Spirit.

Luke 21:5-17

 Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, “As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.”

“Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?”

He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”

10 Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

12 “But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. 13 And so you will bear testimony to me. 14 But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. 15 For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. 17 Everyone will hate you because of me. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. 19 Stand firm, and you will win life.

21st Century Science and Health

There is neither place nor opportunity in Science for error of any sort. Every day makes its demands upon us for better proofs rather than verbal claims of Christian power. These proofs replace sin, sickness, and death with the power of Spirit, as Jesus destroyed them. This is an element of progress and progress is the law of God whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfill.

Surrounded by imperfection, perfection is seen and acknowledged only by degrees. People slowly work toward perfection. How long it must be before we arrive at the demonstration of scientific being, no person knows—not even “the son, but only the Father.”[1] The false claim of error continues its delusions until the goal of goodness is steadfastly earned and won.

The supremacy of Spirit was the foundation on which Jesus built, and his exceptional standard of living points to the religion of Love.

Divine Science honors God as no other theory and it does this in the way of Soul’s appointing, by doing many wonderful works through the divine name and nature. All persons must fulfill their own mission without timidity and without putting on a show. Christianity will never be based on a divine Principle and so found to be unerring, until its absolute Science is reached. Spiritual goals are successfully achieved when our work is done unselfishly, and as a result, arrogance, prejudice, bigotry, and envy cannot wash away its foundation, for it is built on the rock, Truth.

Philippians 4:1-9

Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!

I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

21st Century Science and Health

Beyond the frail premises of human beliefs, above the loosening clutches of human policies, the demonstration of spiritual Mind-healing stands a revealed and practical Science. Throughout all time and space, scientific demonstration is imperative as Christ’s revelation of Truth, of Life, and of Love, remaining inviolate for humanity to understand and to practice.

Disease is not an intelligence to defy the administration of Mind or to overthrow Mind and take the government into its own hands. Sickness is not a God-given, nor a self-constituted material power, which shrewdly competes with and finally conquers Mind. God never supplied matter with power to disable Life or to numb harmony with a long and cold night of misery. Such a power, without the divine permission, is inconceivable. If such an unbelievable power could be divinely directed, it would show less wisdom than we usually find in human governments.

If disease can attack and control the body without the consent of humans, sin can do the same, for both are errors announced as partners in the beginning. The Christian Scientist finds only effects, where the ordinary physician looks for causes. The real jurisdiction of the world is in Mind, Spirit, controlling every effect and recognizing all causation as established in divine Mind.

Mind studies and hypnosis prove the power of the imagination or human subconscious and its ability to create illusions to either help or harm. Youtube channel manager, Jeremy Bennett, briefly explains in (Updated) The Amazing Power of Your Mind – A Must See! [2] that situations don’t cause effects, but that our reactions to the situations control the effects due to our personal expectations and anxieties. This information can be used to move our minds to understand how the human mind works, but more important and because the human mind can’t ultimately correct itself, we can understand how to replace it with divine Mind and learn how spiritual thoughts affect health.

Fever and nausea are errors of various types. High temperatures, abnormal pulse rates, delirium, pain, and queasiness, are images imprinted on the body by human mind. The images, held in this agitated mind tend to frighten conscious thought. The sick-image is produced by millions of human beings and imaged on the body because they believe that mind is in matter and sickness is as real as harmony. If the sick-image is not destroyed and replaced by divine Science, some receptive thought may pick up on it and become sick itself. The case may even end in a belief called death, which must be finally conquered by eternal Life. Truth always triumphs. Sickness and sin fall by their own weight. Truth is the rock, the capstone of the corner, “and it will crush anyone on whom it falls.”[3]

When the curse of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and Spirit’s idea. Allow nothing but Soul’s likeness to prevail in your thought. Do not let fear or doubt eclipse your clear sense and calm trust in Truth. The recognition of life harmonious—as Life eternally is—can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let divine Science instead of fleshly sense, support your understanding of being and this understanding will exchange error for Truth, replace physicality with spirituality, and silence complaint with harmony.

Question. How can I make consistent, rapid progress in my understanding of divine Science?

Answer. Study thoroughly the letter and imbibe the spirit. Adhere to the divine Principle of spiritual Science; and follow the directives of God, abiding steadfastly in wisdom, truth, and Love. In the Science of Mind, you will eventually figure out that error cannot destroy error. You will also learn that the transfer of negative suggestions from one human being to another is proven unreal, for there is but one Mind and this ever-present omnipotent Mind expresses the entire universe and is reflected by us. You will learn that the first responsibility in divine Science is to adapt to Soul, to have one Mind, and to love another as yourself. Let us acknowledge Science. Let us stop accepting theories based on temporal sense-testimony. Give up faulty models and illusive icons. Let us have one God, one Mind, and that one perfect, producing Spirit’s own models of excellence.

Allow the “male and female”[4] of God’s creating to appear. Let us feel the divine energy of Spirit bringing us into newness of life and recognize no human or material power as able to destroy. Let us rejoice that we are open to the divine “governing authorities.”[5] Such is the true Science of being. We must form true God-like models in thought and look at them continually or we shall never carve them out in grand and noble lives.
