Golden text: I Corinthians 3:18*
Don’t fool yourself. Don’t think that you can be wise merely by being up-to-date with the times. Be God’s fool—that’s the path to true wisdom.
Dear child, if you become wise,
I’ll be one happy parent.
My heart will dance and sing
to the tuneful truth you’ll speak.
17-18 Don’t for a minute envy careless rebels;
soak yourself in the Fear-of-God—
That’s where your future lies.
Then you won’t be left with an armload of nothing.
19-21 Oh listen, dear child—become wise;
point your life in the right direction.
Don’t drink too much wine and get drunk;
don’t eat too much food and get fat.
Drunks and gluttons will end up on skid row,
in a stupor and dressed in rags.

Any conclusion pro or con, deduced from matter’s assumed consciousness leads to legitimizing the testimony of physical senses and disease. But we can reverse the testimony of physical senses.
Sputnik and NASA changed the world view when launching into outer space. Setbacks happened, but courage set the precedence. Consequently, outgrown philosophies, based on what physical senses say, have become extinct. The physical law of gravity can’t define us. Space exploration, thought expansion, bravery, and open-mindedness, continues.
Albert Einstein recognized, and made public, the general theory of relativity. Time, space, and mass are relative, or in other words uncertain, but since they’ve been better identified, facts are more correctly studied and scientific corrections and modifications continue.
Chaldean Wisemen read in the stars the future, but even bleak horoscopes can’t keep us from seeing a bright earth and heaven. Birds and blossoms are thankful in God’s perennial and happy sunshine, golden with Truth. Although we have goodness and beauty to cheer the heart, the hypotheses of mortal perceptions, unexplained by divine Science, make us believe we are mere wandering comets—or as Maya Angelou wrote:
Manless and friendless
No cave my home
This is my torture
My long nights, lone.
Science shows that appearances are often mistaken, leading to false judgments and conclusions. To correct the mistakes, we follow the simple rule that the greater controls the lesser. For example: the infinite controls the finite and new discoveries are brought to light; the idea of infinity discounted the mistake of a “static universe.” The universe is not fixed but expanding and contracting, although indistinguishable to the temporal senses. Furthermore, the rate of expansion is greater than the contracting and the cosmos is moving away with space, not even through space. The universe exemplifies the infinite. There is no edge to the universe. From anywhere in the universe, it appears as though it is the center of an ever-expanding heaven. Even our solar system orbits the outer edge of a spiral galaxy called the Milky Way, and is indefinitely expanding and rotating in its own unique path.
The pattern of astronomy imitates the action of ever-expanding divine Principle and reflects God. The pattern brings the universe nearer the spiritual fact, as fashioned after an everlasting government.
I, James, am a slave of God and the Master Jesus, writing to the twelve tribes scattered to Kingdom Come: Hello! 2-4 Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. 5-8 If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open. 9-11 When down-and-outers get a break, cheer! And when the arrogant rich are brought down to size, cheer! Prosperity is as short-lived as a wildflower, so don’t ever count on it. You know that as soon as the sun rises, pouring down its scorching heat, the flower withers. Its petals wilt and, before you know it, that beautiful face is a barren stem. Well, that’s a picture of the “prosperous life.” At the very moment everyone is looking on in admiration, it fades away to nothing. 12 Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life. 13-15 Don’t let anyone under pressure to give in to evil say, “God is trying to trip me up.” God is impervious to evil, and puts evil in no one’s way.

Resist the temptation to believe in mortality as intelligent or as having sensation and power.
The Scriptures say, “Those who look to the Lord will win new strength, they will soar as on eagles’ wings; they will run and not feel faint, march on and not grow weary.” The meaning of that passage is not perverted by applying it literally to moments of fatigue, for the moral and physical are as one in their results. When we wake to the truth of being, all disease, pain, weakness, weariness, sorrow, sin will be unknown, and the dream of dualism will forever cease. My method of treating fatigue applies to all bodily ailments, since Mind should be, and is, all.
In mathematics, we do not multiply when we need to subtract and then say the answer is correct. No more can we say in Science that muscles give strength, that nerves give pain or pleasure, that genes and chemicals govern, and then expect the result will be harmony. Material muscles, nerves, DNA, or bones are nothing without mind, but human mind keeps beating its head “against brick walls,” trying to heal with incorrect premises. Divine Mind heals.
When divine Mind’s action is understood, we will never affirm concerning the body what we do not wish to experience.
It is to our advantage never to let sympathy and society tempt us to cherish error in any form, and certainly we should not be error’s advocate.
[Jesus said] “On Judgment Day, the Ninevites will stand up and give evidence that will condemn this generation, because when Jonah preached to them they changed their lives. A far greater preacher than Jonah is here, and you squabble about ‘proofs.’ On Judgment Day, the Queen of Sheba will come forward and bring evidence that will condemn this generation, because she traveled from a far corner of the earth to listen to wise Solomon. Wisdom far greater than Solomon’s is right in front of you, and you quibble over ‘evidence.’
21st Century Science and Health
Human mind forms all conditions of the human body and controls the organs, bones, genes, cells, blood, etc., as directly as the determination or will moves the hand to lift a glass of water.
I knew a person who when quite a child adopted a whole wheat and vegetarian diet to cure indigestion. For many years, he ate only bread and vegetables and drank nothing but water. His dyspepsia increasing, he decided that his diet should be more rigid. So, he ate only one meal every twenty-four hours, a meal consisting of only a thin slice of bread. His physician recommended that he should not moisten his parched throat until three hours after eating. The person passed many weary years in hunger and weakness, almost in starvation. The skill of the doctors was exhausted and they kindly informed him that death was indeed his only alternative, so he finally made up his mind to die. Then divine Science saved him and his health was restored without a reminder of the old complaint.
This person learned that suffering and disease were the self-imposed beliefs of mortals and not the facts of being. He recognized that God never decreed dis-ease—never ordained a law that fasting should be a means of health. Hence semi-starvation is not acceptable to wisdom and is equally far from Science, in which being is sustained by God, Mind. These truths opened the sufferer’s eyes, relieved his stomach, and he ate without suffering, “giving God thanks.” Though disciplined by self-denial and divine Science, he never enjoyed his food as he imagined he would back in the day when he was constantly hungry.
This new-born understanding that neither food nor the stomach, without the consent of human mind, can make us suffer, brings with it another lesson, that self-indulgence, gluttony, or bulimia, are sensual illusions and can’t give satisfaction. These phantasms disappear as we better understand our spiritual existence and walk the line of a balanced life.
World history illustrates the might of Mind and shows human power to be proportionate to its embodiment of right thinking or spiritual clarity. Words and actions breathing the omnipotence of divine justice and wisdom, are powerful to break through the barriers of human ideologies, fear, and caustic practices.
To hold yourself superior to negativity, because God made you superior to it and governs us, is true wisdom.
Material wealth, fame, and social organizations have no authority or influence in the presence of God. We attain clearer views of Principle as we break up cliques, level monetary wealth with honesty, and let worth be judged according to wisdom. We also get better views of humanity as we remove our self from biased personal perceptions.
This desire for heavenly good comes even before we discover what belongs to wisdom and Love.
No final judgment awaits mortals. There is no time in eternity. The judgment day of wisdom comes thought by thought, by which human beings are deprived of all erroneous thoughts.
The divine Principle, or Spirit, comprehends and expresses all, and all must therefore be as perfect as the divine Principle is perfect. Nothing is new to Spirit. Nothing can be novel to eternal Mind, the author of all things, who from all eternity knows His own ideas. Love is satisfied with Her work. How could that which is complete be unsatisfied? The spiritual creation is the result, the outflow of Father-Mother’s infinite self-containment and immortal wisdom.
