Subject: Living Fluid Eternity
Golden text: Revelation 7:17*
For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
Genesis 1: 1-10
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. 6 And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. 8 And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. 9 And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

There is but one original cause.
Human beings ultimately cannot create their own reality; in other words, they cannot presume the absence of universal Truth, Life, or Love.
The spiritual reality is the scientific fact in all things. The spiritual fact, repeated in the action of individuals and the whole universe, is harmonious and is the ideal of Truth.
Genesis 1:2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
The divine Principle and idea constitute spiritual harmony—heaven and eternity. In the universe of Truth, unpredictability and error are unknown. Finiteness and limitation have no universe. Divine Science, the Word of God, says to the darkness over the face of error, “God is All-in-all,” and the light of ever-present Love illumines the universe. Hence the eternal wonder—that infinite space is peopled with God’s ideas, reflecting Being in countless spiritual forms.
Genesis 1:6. And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water.”
Spiritual understanding, by which human conception, material sense, is separated from Truth, is the expanse. The divine Mind, not human mind, creates all identities and they are forms of Mind. The ideas of Spirit are apparent only as Mind, never as mechanical matter, never as the so-called material physical senses.
Genesis 1:7. So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so.
Soul imparts the understanding which uplifts and de-materializes consciousness and leads into all truth. The Psalmist said: “Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea—the LORD on high is mighty.” Spiritual perception is the discernment of spiritual good. Understanding is the line of separation between the real and unreal. Spiritual understanding unfolds Mind—Life, Truth, and Love—and demonstrates the divine sense, giving the spiritual proof of the universe in divine Science.
Spiritual understanding is not academic or only intellectual. It is not the result of scholarly book learning, but is the reality of all things brought to light. God’s ideas reflect the immortal, unerring, and infinite. The mortal, erring, and finite are human beliefs, appointing themselves to the impossible task of distinguishing between the false and the true. Objects utterly unlike the original do not reflect that original. Therefore, material units, not being the reflection of Spirit, have no real entity. Understanding is a quality of God, a quality which separates divine Science from theories and makes Truth final.
Genesis 1:8. God called the expanse “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
Through divine Science, Spirit, God, unites understanding to eternal harmony. The calm and enlightened thought, or spiritual perception is at peace. Thus the dawn of ideas goes on, forming each successive stage of progress.
You will say in that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
for though you were angry with me,
your anger turned away,
that you might comfort me.
2 “Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the Lord God is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4 And you will say in that day:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.
5 “Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known in all the earth.
6 Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

This strong point in divine Science is not to be overlooked—that “a spring doesn’t gush fresh water one day and brackish the next.” The more expansive and inclusive your success is in the Science of mental healing and teaching, the more impossible it will become for you intentionally to influence humankind adverse to its highest hope and achievement.
People who affirm that there is more than one Principle and method of demonstrating divine Science are mistaken, whether they do so ignorantly or intentionally. Whoever believes in more than one Principle, automatically separate themselves from the true conception of spiritual scientific healing and its possible manifestation.
Any dishonesty in your theory and practice betrays a gross unawareness of the method of the Truth-cure. Science makes no concessions to persons or opinions. We must live in the morale of truth or we cannot illustrate the divine Principle. So long as fluctuating substance is the basis of practice, illness cannot be efficaciously treated by the divine mental process. Truth does the work and you must both understand and live up to the divine Principle of your demonstration.
Matthew 3: 1-4, 13-17
In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, 2 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” 3 For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.’” 4 Now John wore a garment of camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14 John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. 16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

It is the living Christ, the practical Truth, which makes Jesus “the resurrection and the life” to all who follow his actions. Obeying his priceless precepts—following his demonstration so far as we understand it—we drink of his cup, share his bread, and are baptized with his purity until at last we can rest and sit down with Christ in a full understanding of divine Principle, which triumphs over death.
II Peter 3:1-8
This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2 that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, 3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6 and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. 8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Physical senses confuse image with the original and the consequence is an unlikeness of Spirit. In the illusion of life that is here today and gone tomorrow, individuals would be wholly dust were it not that Love destroys all error and brings spirituality to light. As the reflection of our Maker, we are not subject to birth, growth, maturity, decay. These mortal projections are of human origin, not divine presence.
We call the absence of Truth, error. Truth and error are unlike. In Science, Truth is divine and can have no unlikeness. Did God, Truth, create error? No! “Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?” God, being everywhere and all-inclusive, how can the all-presence be absent? How can the absence of omnipresence and omnipotence even be suggested? How can there be more than all?
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” In the vast forever, in the Science and truth of being, the only facts are Spirit and its innumerable expressions. Darkness and chaos are the imaginary opposites of light, understanding, and eternal harmony, and they are the elements of nothingness.
Black doesn’t reflect light. If there is no spiritual reflection then there remains only darkness, without a trace of heavenly tints. Evil doesn’t have identity or power because it doesn’t reflect any of the divine colors (e.g. health, decency, stamina…). Paul says: “Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” When the substance of Spirit appears in divine Science, the emptiness of matter is recognized. Evil is the supposed absence of God. There is no dimension where God is gone. God is.
