Golden text: Romans 12:12-14*
12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.
When Leah saw that she had ceased bearing children, she took her servant Zilpah and gave her to Jacob as a wife. 10 Then Leah’s servant Zilpah bore Jacob a son. 11 And Leah said, “Good fortune has come!” so she called his name Gad.[f] 12 Leah’s servant Zilpah bore Jacob a second son. 13 And Leah said, “Happy am I! For women have called me happy.” So she called his name Asher.

Asher (Jacob’s son). Hope and faith; spiritual compensation; the ills of the flesh rebuked.
The loss of earthly hopes and pleasures can brighten the spiritual path. Pain in the body informs us that pleasure in the body is mortal, compelling us to discover spiritual joy.
If we cherish our hope honestly, silently, and humbly, we lessen the risk of overwhelming our real desires with a deluge of words. Stillness allows us to work willingly for what we ask, and we thereby feel God’s reward.
Now the sons of Jacob were twelve. 23 The sons of Leah: Reuben (Jacob’s firstborn), Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun. 24 The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin. 25 The sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s servant: Dan and Naphtali. 26 The sons of Zilpah, Leah’s servant: Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Paddan-aram.
Genesis 49:1-2, 20, 28
Then Jacob called his sons and said, “Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you what shall happen to you in days to come. 2 “Assemble and listen, O sons of Jacob, listen to Israel your father.
20“Asher’s food shall be rich, and he shall yield royal delicacies.
28This is what their father said to them as he blessed them, blessing each with the blessing suitable to him.

Material wealth, fame, and social organizations have no authority or influence in the presence of God. We attain clearer views of Principle as we break up cliques, level monetary wealth with honesty, and let worth be judged according to wisdom. We also get better views of humanity as we remove our self from biased personal perceptions.
Science depicts disease as error, as matter versus Mind. Reverse error, and the facts of health are witnessed. To forecast your future according to the world, infringes on spiritual law and misguides your hopes. We are sustained under all circumstances as we have faith in the divine Principle of health and as we spiritually understand God. The ordinary appeal to have faith in the world’s ways and means must yield to faith in the all-might of infinite Spirit.
Spiritual ideas unfold as we advance. A human perception of divine Science, however limited, must be correct in order to be Science and subject to demonstration. A germ of infinite Truth, though least in the realm of heaven, is the higher hope on earth, but it will be rejected and hated until God prepares the soil for the seed. That which when sown produces immortal fruit, perfects humanity only when it is understood—consequently, the many readings given the Scriptures, and the requisite revisions of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
Numbers 13:1-2, 13, 21, 25-28, 31-32
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the people of Israel. From each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, every one a chief among them.”
13 from the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael;
21 So they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, near Lebo-hamath.
25 At the end of forty days they returned from spying out the land. 26 And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there.
31 Then the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are.” 32 So they brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height.

Many a hopeless case of disease is induced by a single post mortem examination—by fear of disease and the images brought before the mind. Disease is a mental state, which is afterward outlined on the body.
The press, internet, and media unwittingly send forth many sorrows among the human family. It does this by giving names to diseases and by printing long descriptions which mirror images of disorder and dysfunction distinctly in thought. A new name for an ailment affects people like the latest craze. Every one jumps on the band wagon to join the party of problems. A minutely described disease costs many human beings their earthly days of comfort. What a price for human knowledge!
If we pray to God as though God is a measurable unit, human doubts and fears rear their ugly heads and become obstacles. Because of the human minds unawareness of God as divine Spirit, there is an unawareness of divine Principle, Love. As a result, the Father of all is represented as a corporeal creator. Human beings then recognize themselves as merely physical and are ignorant of God’s image as eternal incorporeal beings. Corporeality is not able to grasp the wonders brought about by incorporeal spiritual Love, to whom all things are possible.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Praise to God and peace to the struggling hearts! Christ has removed the obstacle from the door of human hope and faith, and through the revelation and demonstration of life in God, we are elevated to possible at-one-ment with the spiritual idea of God and our divine Principle, Love.
In the Science of Mind-healing, it is imperative to be honest, for victory rests on the side of immutable right. To understand God strengthens hope, advances faith in Truth, and verifies Jesus’ word: “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Physicians, whom the sick employ in their helplessness, should be models of integrity. They should be wise spiritual guides to health and hope.
Physical sense flaunts the belief that mind is temporal. Human belief—shifting between feelings of satisfaction and dissatisfaction, hope and fear, life and death—never breaks through the limiting factors of the mortal or the unreal. Ah! But when the real is experienced, joy is no longer fragile and hope is no longer a con artist. Spiritual ideas, like numbers and notes, start from Principle, and admit no materialist beliefs. Spiritual ideas lead up to their divine origin, God, and to the spiritual sense of being. Spiritual perception, excelling over the material perception, involves intuition, hope, faith, understanding, spiritual experience, reality.
It is better for hope to prophesy that the human mind will sometime ascend above all limited and physical sense. As dimensional and unreliable views are exchanged for spiritual perception, human concepts are advanced. The divine consciousness is experienced and person recognizes their God-given dominion and being.
If our hopes and inclinations are spiritual, they come from enlightenment, not from trained thinking, and they produce the fruits of the Spirit.
As human thought changes from one stage to another, from conscious pain to painlessness, from sorrow to joy, from fear to hope, and from faith to understanding, the visible manifestation will at last be self-governed by Soul.
