Golden text: Romans 6:8*

Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.

Isaiah 28: 11-12, 14-18

For by people of strange lips
and with a foreign tongue
the Lord will speak to this people,
12     to whom he has said,
“This is rest;
give rest to the weary;
and this is repose”;
yet they would not hear.

Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scoffers,
who rule this people in Jerusalem!
15 Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death,
and with Sheol we have an agreement,
when the overwhelming whip passes through
it will not come to us,
for we have made lies our refuge,
and in falsehood we have taken shelter”;
16 therefore thus says the Lord God,
“Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion,
a stone, a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation:
‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’
17 And I will make justice the line,
and righteousness the plumb line;
and hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
and waters will overwhelm the shelter.”
18 Then your covenant with death will be annulled,
and your agreement with Sheol will not stand;

The alleged power of mortal thinking contrasts sacred Mind, Truth, and spiritual law. Temporal law has no agreement with the goodness of God’s character.

Can the eternal dwell in the temporal or know anything unlike the infinite? Can Deity be known through the physical senses? Can the human perceptions, which receive no direct evidence of Spirit, give correct testimony as to spiritual life, truth, and love?

The answer to all these questions must forever be in the negative.

Mortals do not need to delude themselves by thinking the experience of death will awaken them to glorified being.

Whatever teaches us to have convoluted ideals and to acknowledge powers other than the divine Mind, opposes spirituality.

No one is physically healed in a willful lack of mindfulness, any more than she or he is morally saved in or by sin. It is a mistake even to complain or to be angry over sin. To be whole, people must be better spiritually as well as physically. To be spiritual, we must forsake the temporal sense of things, turn away from the lies of false beliefs, look to Truth, and gather the facts of being from the divine Mind. The body improves under the same plan which perfects the thought. If health is not made evident under the plan, this proves that fear is controlling the body. This is the law of cause and effect, or of like producing like.

There is no error in Science, and our lives must be influenced by reality in order to be in agreement with God, the divine Principle of all being.

I Timothy 6: 2-10

Teach and urge these things. If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Right is revolutionary. Teachers must know the truth themselves; they must live it and love it, or they cannot impart it to others. We dirty our garments with conservatism, and afterward we must wash them clean. When the spiritual sense of Truth unfolds its harmonies, you take no risks in the policy of error. Expect to heal simply by repeating my words, by right talking and wrong acting, and you will be disappointed. Such a practice does not demonstrate the Science by which divine Mind heals the sick.

The Christ-like character takes on greater heights and proves that Truth is the master of death. Christ presents the indestructible person, whom Spirit forms, constitutes, and governs. Identifying our self with God, we feel our dominion to overcome worldliness.

Detach feelings from the body, or matter, which is only a type of human belief. Learn the meaning of God or good, and the nature of the immutable and immortal. Don’t worry when breaking away from mutating time and feelings, because you will not lose your sense of reality or your sense of identity. As you contemplate spiritual life, consciousness is purified and being groomed to experience the celestial.

We can forget the body while remembering good and the human race. Good compels us to solve the problem of being. Commitment to good increases our dependence on a spiritual God and shows a paramount necessity to be responsible to Truth and Love.

A condition precedent to communion with Spirit is the gain of spiritual life.

I Timothy 6: 11-16

 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, 14 to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.

Paul had a clear sense of the demands of Truth on mortals physically and spiritually. He said, “Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.”[1] But the person who comes from and serves fleshly beliefs, can never reach in this world the divine heights of our Lord.

The recognition of Spirit and of infinity does not come all at once, but throughout eternity. Haba na haba, a Swahili phrase for little by little, or step by step, has relevance. Human beings do not change from error to truth in an instant.

Existence continues to be a perception of divided body energies until the Science of being is reached. Erroneous belief systems bring their own self-destruction both here and hereafter because mortal mind creates its own mortal conditions. Death will occur on the next plane of existence as on this until the spiritual understanding of Life is achieved. Then, and not until then, will it be demonstrated that “the second death has no power over them.”[2]

The time required for this dream of material life to disappear from consciousness, “No one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”[3] The time it takes for us to stop embracing delusive pleasures and pains will be drawn out, or shortened, depending on the tenacity of error. Of what advantage is it to prolong the illusion either of a catatonic soul or of a dying sufferer trapped in a body? What is better, to add years to mortal life, or, to add life to years?

Voices of solemn import are heard in the sacred sanctuary of Truth. Are we heeding these voices? If so, we are burying error and resurrecting to spiritual life. These signs are seen when the temporary pleasures and pains pass away from our lives.

Colossians 2: 20-23

If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

Colossians 3: 1-2

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

From 21st Century Science and Health

Be accountable, hope and work, willingly act on divine guidance, not private interest. Divine guidance will either force a graceful change, or calm the enraged atmosphere.

Governed by spiritual Mind, we are always graceful and noble.
