Golden text: Prov. 1:5 (New American Standard Bible, NASB)*
A wise man will hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel.
Luke 2:21, 39-52 (King James Version)
And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. 40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. 41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. 43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. 44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. 45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. 46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. 48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. 49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? 50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. 51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Academics of the right sort are requisite. Observation, invention, study, and original thought are expansive. They should promote the advancement of human mind out of itself to a consciousness that escapes mortality.
Sensationalized education is deplorable. The mere dogma, the frightening speculations, and the nauseous fiction can be filtered out. Novels and movies remarkable only for their exaggerated pictures, unrealistic ideals, and models of rudeness, fill the viewer and reader with wrong tastes and attitudes. Commercialism is lowering the intellectual standard to accommodate the bank account and to meet a foolish demand for entertainment instead of for improvement. Incorrect views lower the standard of truth.
As the individual ideal of Truth, Christ Jesus came to help us unlearn false teachings, sickness, and death. The purpose of Jesus’ earthly career was to point out and demonstrate the way of Truth and Life.
A musician teaches and demonstrates the beauty of the music in order to show the learner by way of practice as well as precept. Jesus’ teaching and practice of Truth involved such a sacrifice as makes us admit its Principle to be Love. Sacrifice was the precious significance of the Teacher’s sinless career and of his demonstration of power over death. He proved by his deeds that divine Science destroys sickness, sin, and death.
Acts 7:9-22 (NASB)
The patriarchs became jealous of Joseph and sold him into Egypt. Yet God was with him, 10 and rescued him from all his afflictions, and granted him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and he made him governor over Egypt and all his household. 11 “Now a famine came over all Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction with it, and our fathers could find no food. 12 But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent our fathers there the first time. 13 On the second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and Joseph’s family was disclosed to Pharaoh. 14 Then Joseph sent word and invited Jacob his father and all his relatives to come to him, seventy-five persons in all. 15 And Jacob went down to Egypt and there he and our fathers died. 16 From there they were removed to Shechem and laid in the tomb which Abraham had purchased for a sum of money from the sons of Hamor in Shechem. 17 “But as the time of the promise was approaching which God had assured to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt, 18 until there arose another king over Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph. 19 It was he who took shrewd advantage of our race and mistreated our fathers so that they would expose their infants and they would not survive. 20 It was at this time that Moses was born; and he was lovely in the sight of God, and he was nurtured three months in his father’s home. 21 And after he had been set outside, Pharaoh’s daughter took him away and nurtured him as her own son. 22 Moses was educated in all the learning of the Egyptians, and he was a man of power in words and deeds.

Learn from experience. Learn respect, self-control, patience, and a reliable happiness that comes from spiritual growth.
It is right to say that the educated class of scientists and medical doctors are great people. They are more scientific than are false claimants to Christian Science. There is much that yet remains to be said and done before all humankind is saved and all the mental microbes of sin and disease thought-germs are exterminated.
To become aware of the reality and order of being in its Science, you must begin by admitting Love as the divine Principle of reality. Spirit, Life, Truth, Love, combine as one—and are the Scriptural names for God. All substance, intelligence, wisdom, being, spirituality, cause, and effect belong to God. These are the attributes of the infinite divine Principle, Love. No wisdom is wise but Mind’s wisdom; no truth is true, no love is lovely, no life is Life but the divine; no good is, but the good God gives.
Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are to say.
Make your ear attentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding;
3 For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding;
4 If you seek her as silver
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
5 Then you will discern the fear of the Lord
And discover the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
8 Guarding the paths of justice,
And He preserves the way of His godly ones.
9 Then you will discern righteousness and justice
And equity and every good course.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart
And knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
11 Discretion will guard you,
Understanding will watch over you.

The pure and uplifting thoughts from teachers and instructors, constantly imparted to pupils, reach higher than the heavens of astronomy. Corrupt and dubious minds, though gifted with scholarly attainment, will degrade the characters it should inform and elevate. Strive to see the whole picture when selecting teachers and speakers. It is imperative to consider the instructor’s morality along with their credentials and skill level.
Physicians, whom the sick employ in their helplessness, should be models of integrity. They should be wise spiritual guides to health and hope.
Clergy, chaplains, and spiritual leaders, observing the world, should advance the standard of Truth. They can inspire their hearers spiritually so that listeners will love to grapple with a new right idea, and broaden their views.
Ignorant of the fact that human thinking produces disease and all its symptoms, ordinary physicians are liable to increase disease with their own mind. Instead, they can work to destroy disease through the power of the divine Mind.
Teachers do not indoctrinate, but shed light on the student’s hidden energies and capabilities for good.
Spiritual understanding is not academic, is not the result of scholarly book learning, but is the reality of all things brought to light
